Critical incidents are situations with the potential to cause psychological harm to employees and may occur inside or outside the workplace. For example:

  • Workplace accidents
  • Death or injury of employees or their families
  • Violent confrontations such as an assault or armed hold-up
  • Redundancy and organisational transition
  • Challenging or distressing work events

Onsite Critical Incident Response

The Employee Assistance Program can provide an onsite critical incident response service 24-hours, seven days a week.

Counsellors can be on-site within specified priority response times (outlined in the signed contracts for each organisation) to provide individual and/or group psychological first-aid. By arrangement with the organisation, the counsellor will conduct a post-incident follow-up.

Critical Incident Consultancy

Employee Assistance Program can assist your organisation to prepare for critical incidents through consultancy on aspects of critical incident management, policies and procedures.
